Buffetting : Homey, or not?

It struck me when I was looking through the posts in Facebook.

Yes its so boring in the mid sem break and I totally did not do anything related to studies.

My friends from UPM posted stuffs like:

"Omgosh one week gone? Back to UPM? NOOOO!!!"

or

"I don't wanna leave home!!! Why why why??!!! More holidays please!"

Or stuffs like that.

I reacted differently though, probably because the distance of my home and my education institutions till today is minimal.

High School was of course easy.

As for university, UPM is only 20km away and heck Monash is only 5 minutes away.

The only period I was long enough to be away from home was when I enrolled UPM, and I lived in residential.

Funny, which I'd loved it a lot.

All, I mean ALL of my course mates were like crazy over holidays because they can head home.

I was totally different, in which I'd rather stayed in residential and not go home.

Seriously, why leave the residential college when it's so comfy there? Apart from lack of air conditioning, and probably a maid, everything else was fine.

I do not particularly demand for special demands or whatever, I just need a place for me to be there and that is totally fine.

As for not being near to people I know or close with, I'm ok. I don't feel "lonely" or whatever term people use for homesick, because I totally lived that life out by now.

Even my best bud is in the Oz land now, loneliness doesn't kick into me.

Is it because of the distance that I do not miss home? OR it's just that I am NOT a home person?

The fortune-teller once told my parents I'm the type that leaves home and "berfoya-foya"(international readers do ask a Malaysian) outside. One which I didn't really believe in.

However, as I grow older, the "prophecy" or whatever term to classify it became more and more compatible to my personal preference.

So maybe I am the type that goes out and sleep around and all?

I wonder.

Oh well, as for now, I can't wait for the next 6 weeks to end, and I can once again get back to my free and easy life in UPM.

There's no family matters, at least.

    1. I don't even call home when I was in UPM because I was really busy. I'm the type that I don't bother because things will have to go on even if I'm away! So catch up when we have the time

So you came back like during the break isit? Hmm, I go back weekly during the days in upm, but it was just for like 7 hours and I'm back to university.

    2. hahaha..depend on what u define happening is..i find melb to be a nice, peaceful place for me to stay, bit of fun once a while..malaysia is happening indeed but i dont feel safe living here

      Delete
    3. don't feel safe? so now do you feel threatened now and then?

      Delete
    4. sort of..i dare walking alone in melb at 1,2 in the morning without any friend with me but in malaysia, even going out at bright day doesnt guaranteed ur safety. crime rate is too high ard over here

      Delete
    5. wah, 1,2 in the morning you so free walk around in the streets ar? As for me I ain't really fond of walking by the streets at those hours la, so no problem for me. As for daily robberies, have to be extremely careful lor. But upm is fine la

    6. coming back from uni la..of course need to walk xD hahaha

yeah, i suppose so..still pondering whether i shud continue stay at bangi or move to college in upm when i start this sept..huhu

    7. move in college la... but better get a good one like k17 or the tohers might scare the shit out of u hahah~

      Delete
    8. hahaha...that's the problem...residential college in malaysia always scare me..we can pick which college we want??how much is k17?

      Delete
    9. im not sure if you can pick it, but k17 is overall ok. Rm400-500 per sem/14 weeks if remember. Definitely much cheaper than rental outside!

      Delete
    10. i dont think k17 will be available for me since u said it is for vet/med student right..if not mistaken, my friend said there is a residential college for master student, cost ard 4 bucks per day..i really hope it is in good condition XD

      Delete
    11. hopefully! K17 do have master graduates residing here! but i think medical courses. You can try asking, there's no harm

    12. oh okay...see how it goes. gonna send my application for master next month since want to get the offer letter early. need to start apply for scholarship, again...huhu xD

      Delete
    13. u mean you have yet to send in the app? Oh masters should be a lil different.

Scholarships for masters should be relative, relaxed i guess?

      Delete
    14. yeah, as long can find supervisor for ur project, they will pretty much approve ur application

i suppose so since there be less competition as compared to scholarship for degree but it will only cover my tuition fee. so need to save money now to cover my living expenses later >_<

      Delete
    15. i see, wow master's seemed easier to get enrolled..

oh well, isn't that ok already? living expenses if its college super cheap, food wise, also ok la. u can give tuition here and there

      Delete
    16. that's the tricky part. it is easy to enroll but very hard to find a supervisor since it all boiled down to whether they receive grant from uni or not..and uni can be a lil bit stingy when it comes to grant..huhu

i prefer to get living allowance than have my tuition fee covered..tuition is like 1.5k only per semester..hahaha..yeah, think i will apply for GRF so that can work as demo in the uni lab

      Delete
    17. ugh, never knew how grants work.

wah so cheap for masters? syok sial. Working as a demo in uni lab seemed ok! Should be able to get a spot if you are good enough. unless there's no more vacancies la.

      Delete
    18. of course la..we dont have class, 100& research based..what for need to pay a lot..if u do master at UM, it's totally free..hahaha...last time it did cost a bit mroe since need to fulfill 9 credits but starting nx sem, no more coursework..full research-based master

nah, they will always have vacancy that for sure..the only difference is whether u got lot of hours or not

      Delete
    19. i see.. wah masters different stuffs i see. now its all about grants in masters eh?

if its medical definitely need to pay.

      Delete
    20. yeah..in postgrad study, if they dont get grant, how to conduct research. so if wanna continue master, u have to find lecturer that receive one from uni. usually the senior the lecturer, the more he/she get.

nah, if UM, u wont have to. they pay the fee using the grant..hahaa

      Delete
    21. oh, time to get contacts XD

but masters in medical grads require postings, and I don't think researches are conducted leh.

      Delete
    22. in medical, quite rare for ppl to continue for master...usually they choose which specialist they want to venture into

yeah, really important to have contact..i only get this offer because my seniors that doing master at UPM told me bout it

      Delete
    23. specializing in medicine means to enter the masters laaaaa

i see, contact very important. see how it goes. if im stepping back to vet, then I will start to hog all the lecturers which i think i will need to have support to do what i need to do XD

      Delete
    24. yup, u better start do that =P hahaha...my friend that studied in UPM ard got offer by his lecturer to study masters and continue till finish phd with her

IF???so no final decision yet...i wish u all the best in getting what u want..so i'll be seeing u either at adidas KOTR or at UPM, whichever comes first..haha =D

      Delete
    25. yea, when I know where I wanna go.

because its not MY final decision. in a way it is, but I need to contemplate a lil more furtuer. Yea, KOTR or UPM. Sorry man sckl marathon is like haiz...

      Towerthon interested?

      Delete
    26. no need to apologize..even i dont expect it to close that early..hope the same thing wont happen for KOTR..i havent register for it yet since i wanna see 1st how it goes with SCKL..

towerthon..urgghhh, the sound of it can kill me ard xP is this the one that we run climb the KL tower??u register for it ard??when is it held?

      Delete
    27. oh then better be faster. KOTR damn fast finish.

haha i managed to do it in 28 minutes last yr la, but i think my stamina down like shit, plus my knee injury summore, don't know can do it anot. Haven't sign up yet, but going to la

      Delete
    28. really??aiyo, need to fork more money to pay it xD

look like not an event for me yet..ever since i start my training, my left knee start to hurt a little bit..so i dont think i dare to try something as challenging as towerthon yet..huhu

      Delete
    29. nvm la see how it goes first.

ugh, me too. i have no idea wtheck happened to my knees, very bad. i am not even sure if i can train for these runs anymore with my legs like that.

      Delete
    30. u better go and get it check..if it's nothing, then everything's well..if not, can prevent it before it get worse...

      Delete
